Discussion

Regents of the University of California v. Katy Industries, Inc. In January 2009, a fire occurred in one of the main buildings at the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management. The alleged cause of the fire was a portable power strip manufactured and distributed by Gray•Duffy’s client, Katy Industries, Inc. The amount of the loss exceeded $400,000. After nearly three years of negotiations and expert analysis, UCLA dropped its claim for reimbursement of the damages against Katy Industries, Inc. without any payment being made.
