Discussion

Cook v. Meritage Homes of Northern California This lawsuit involved six single-family homes located in the Bella Vista development in Manteca, California. Frontier Land Companies was the developer and general contractor for the project. The firm’s client, Rangel Drywall, had entered into a series of contracts with Meritage Homes for the installation of sheetrock and drywall at all of the homes involved in the lawsuit. Although there were allegations of drywall defects being made by the homeowners, Mr. Brown convinced the developer that Rangel should be dismissed since it was not responsible for any of the claimed defects. The lawsuit remains pending; however, the developer dismissed Rangel from the lawsuit in exchange for a waiver of costs.
