Brooks v. Douglas Parking The lawsuit involved a 46-year-old AT&T cable installer who tripped over the threshold of an unleveled elevator in a parking garage owned by Douglas Parking in Oakland, California. The individual sustained serious injuries to his right knee. As a result of the injuries, the plaintiff underwent surgery and was out of work for nearly six months. His medical expenses were $25,000, and his wage loss was $40,000. The initial settlement demand was $150,000.
