Summary Judgment Obtained for Defendant in Property Damage Case

A mother and daughter owned property in downtown Los Angeles next to the insured defendant. A fire broke out on the defendant’s property which allegedly resulted in damage to the plaintiffs’ property. The plaintiffs made numerous claims, including significant property damage and loss of rental income, which our firm believed to be fraudulent. We demanded proof of tenants, property damage and other evidence supporting the plaintiffs’ claims, but it was never provided.

We attempted to resolve the matter directly with plaintiffs’ counsel on a number of occasions, and ultimately filed a motion for summary judgment which the court granted, and awarded costs to our client.
